Odes to My Friends

There once was a guy named Chase.
He had a car that he wanted to race.
Down in disgrace,
Getting only second place,
Next time, he needs to pick up the pace
When faced with a fast and furious ace.

The dogs whine and some of them bark.
Windows break and the sky goes dark.
Beware! Oh, don't you cause a spark!
Else, across the sky, a fiery arc!
The effects grim, the environment stark.
The Hazmat team must disembark.
The vapors foul, I must remark
Of the gas passed by my friend Marc.

I enviously watch as I stand still:
A force moving forward by sheer will
Who hones her sharpened drawing skill.
Worthy of a professor wearing twill
And sipping her ginger ale so chill,
Which, of course, will never spill
Because she already knows the drill.
Her artistic dreams she will fulfill.
The journey tough and at times a thrill,
But she will overcome. That's my friend Jill.

A strong work ethic forged on firma terra,
More talented than Diego Rivera,
Her school in the county of Santa Clara,
You won't see her wearing mascara.
A varied combat style, like chimera,
I'd rather know her than Fawcett, Farrah.
At the beach or a lake by the Sierra
She loves her water, which is SO "Sarah."

Drink the contents of the keg,
For one should not be vague
Of the rotten and forgotten egg,
'Cause it is simple to peg
That one has often gone to beg
That he be not me, the dispensable plague.

I think that we can all agree
That she is about the size of a flea.
But you can't say that to her for free,
Else your face will meet her knee!
From her foil, arrow, or teeth, you shoud flee
From the scrappy, pee-wee killing spree.
But it is in art that she finds her glee,
To which she devotes a mighty degree
Of her time so that all can see
Animation and film that I guaruntee
Is worthy of the highest jubilee.
Always working, like a busy little bee,
She still values her friends like you and me.
These are reasons we all value Chelsey.

I don't know from whom he was spawn,
But to his friendly personality I am drawn.
Someone we can practice fencing skills on,
He knows 100 ways to use a baton.
In the Renaissance or an English salon,
I am proud to know this man Jon.

I'd like to get together more often, if I could.
With swords and life, he helped us get good.
Body mechanics, he knew what was under the hood.
Fixing our movement or the angle in which we stood,
He made things right, they way that they should.
I look forward to crossing swords someday with Erin Wood.

Striking from the mighty guard of ochs,
He'll knock you clean out of your socks!
Knowing the body like a tinkerer knows clocks,
He can teach you the basic building blocks,
Of smart fencing, unlike brute sword jocks.
A joy for combat, this man unlocks.
You want to fence with Liam Fox.

The news I just read
Of the blood that was shed
And the finger that bled
Making the kitchen red.
But I heard it said
There was no dread,
Cause nothing can phase Ted.

Friendly and a hard working whiz,
She will win every car knowledge quiz,
With hair that might frizz,
She's on her way to break into the biz.
That's what I have on my friend Liz.
